Christmas season is here! This time of year is an amazing time for groups to rent a charter bus to travel together and view Christmas lights. There are tons of spectacular destinations to view Christmas lights across Georgia and we have mapped out a few of them for you.
Garden Lights, Holiday Nights at Atlanta Botanical Garden
The Atlanta Botanical Garden is a beautiful destination year round, but it is extra special during Christmas time. Experience the nature of the Botanical Garden while being immersed in the 2 billion lights across 30 acres. This motorcoach friendly destination is the perfect getaway for you and your group to have some fun this holiday season. Featuring the world’s largest display of synchronized light and sound, “Garden Lights, Holiday Nights” is a must see for Christmas in Georgia.
Stone Mountain Christmas
Known for its summer lazer light shows, Stone Mountain Park has a new take on Christmas lights: “World’s Largest Christmas Light Show”. Christmas music, lazer lights, and a firework finale makes for an unforgettable evening! The show is 20 minutes long, and you can bring your own picnic blankets and chairs, and the parking is charter bus friendly. There are also several Christmas exhibits around the park leading up to the Christmas light show at night. The Jurassic Christmas experience is an exhibit where you can learn about dinosaurs and see the “Dino Glow Experience” to check out the lights on the model dinosaur bones. For Christmas movie fans, there is also a seasonal showing of The Polar Express in Stone Mountain’s 4D theater, and “The Polar Express Experience” including a five-mile, sing-a-long train ride.
Illuminights at Zoo Atlanta
Illuminights at Zoo Atlanta is the perfect destination for animal lovers! With over 80 zoo animal light-lantern characters, this trip will be fun for the whole family! Zoo Atlanta keeps sustainability in mind with using all LED lights in the light-lanterns. According to the Zoo Atlanta website, there are group discounts with groups over 15 people. Lights of Life in Marietta
Life University in Marietta, Georgia puts on a spectacular annual lights festival that runs from Thanksgiving Day to New Year’s Eve. Throughout the 104 acres of Life University’s beautiful campus, there are so many magical lights to make your Christmas season memorable! Lights of Life also features pony rides, train rides, and a petting zoo. Be sure to check out the concession stands along the way for popcorn and hot chocolate. Lights of Life is $20 per bus and $10 per car, making it one of the most cost effective light shows in the state of Georgia. Bus parking is available on site so your group can explore all of the attractions Lights of Life has to offer.
Fantasy of Lights at Callaway Gardens
Ranked in the top ten light displays by National Geographic, you will not want to miss the illuminating experience at Fantasy of Lights! There are both drive thru and walking options for the whole family to enjoy. There are several festive events to enjoy if you plan your visit for the right days. Character Breakfast including Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph, and the Gingerbread Man, Bicycle night, and a “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” Dinner Show are all amazing opportunities to make the season extra special. Known for their gorgeous landscaping, Callaway Gardens is an incredible place to celebrate the holidays with the ones you love!
Six Flags Holiday in the Park
For a more exhilarating light viewing experience, visit Six Flags Over Georgia’s “Holiday in the Park”. View lights from over 450 feet in the air on Georgia’s tallest roller coaster, The Goliath! Six Flags has motorcoach friendly parking available making it a convenient destination for your group. The entire amusement park is covered in holiday decor and Christmas cheer! A fan favorite is the stained glass nativity scene on Holiday Hill. Six Flags Holiday in the Park is an exciting, family friendly fun for all ages!
A Country Christmas at Pettit Creek Farms
Pettit Creek Farms in Cartersville, Georgia is the perfect place to meet Santa and his reindeer, while seeing Christmas lights! You can drive yourself through the mile long Christmas light display, or be surrounded by lights in a hayride! Featuring Santa’s Cottage, you can meet Santa Claus, accompanied by his reindeer Comet and Cupid. Santa, Comet, and Cupid, will make their appearances every Thursday-Sunday, 6pm-9pm, except November 28th. There is also a Nativity Scene with a petting zoo on Saturdays. Enjoy campfire s’mores, funnel cakes, hot chocolate, and more while you embrace the Christmas spirit!
Holly Jolly Jekyll at Jekyll Island
If you are looking for a beach getaway, be sure to check out Jekyll Island’s “Holly Jolly Jekyll”. Featuring over 350 light displays, Jekyll Island is an amazing place to be during the Christmas season. Take a trolley to see the over one million lights across the island, or visit during one of the several seasonal event days on the island. Events include a light parade on December 10th featuring Santa Claus, Fireworks show on December 22nd and 29th, and a drive-in movie showing of Dr. Seuss’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” on December 20th and December 27th.
